Bill's fine, but sick. And everyone at his workplace are morons. But I think we knew that.

Thanks for the responses, everyone!

Yeah, I was about to post something in your other thread about this. [livejournal.com profile] bryant just called me after he talked to [livejournal.com profile] that_cad who went over to his house.

[livejournal.com profile] telepresence went to his house, too. Poor Bill -- hot and cold running friends! (I was finally on my way to his place, after going home to get my keys, when I called him -- I had left my cell at home today and didn't have his home # at work -- and he answered.)

He can blame the people at work for communicating badly to each other. Or his boss, for being an idiot.

I saw the posts too late to be of any assistance, but I think that EVERYONE should just show up at Bill's house tonight.

Well, everyone else in the gaming group showed up... so it sounds like they should move it over there. :)

Yeah, Bill's going to kill SOMEone. The only question is... who?

(I posted in an alarmist way to LJ. But *I* personally blame his boss...)

[livejournal.com profile] that_cad said something about his nephews knowing but not telling anyone, and his boss getting a new phone#, and him not emailing us about the game tonight, and on and on... after a while, it sounded like a bad sitcom episode.

Ohhhhh, those nephews are gonna be in trouble, if so.... (Or maybe not. But it was their Mom who got ME into this, and it snowballed from there, so...)

Phew! Thanks for letting us know!

Hol, if it ever comes to that, I work 2 seconds from your office and always carry my copy of his keys on my chain.

Ah, good to know! I will keep that in mind.

:::massive hugs::: Sorry he's sick, but a big yay that you tracked him down.

Sadly, people are often morons in the workplace. Saves them the trouble of changing their level of functioning when they get up in the morning. *veg*

I'd be interested to know if it's the boss being an idiot, or if HE wasn't told, or... something. I don't know. The thing is -- Bill had said that he did not hear his home phone ring until I called at 5:45pm. But his sister had told me she'd called his home phone. Perhaps work had as well. We all know of his capacity for sleeping like a rock. So I don't know. But I think Cathy should slap Bill's boss for worrying all of us.

It's the kind of thing that makes me nuts. People just letting their attention slip because of so many things including being busy. And then it all unfurls from there. So easy to have that happen in a busy workplace, and it shouldn't be. People should attend to each other. Gah.

Er, pardon the rant, this kind of thing pushes buttons for me. ;)

If we want to drive the poor guy to commit homicide, perhaps...

Good grief, but THANK GOODNESS.

And this would be why people will soon be receiving copies of my keys.

*nods* I may give you a copy of mine as well. (Jane now has a copy of mine.) It can be useful in so many situations. *eyes Katie*

Pff. A guy who has, over the course of years, built a reputation as extremely reliable -- particularly where his job is concerned -- apparently fails to report in for work? Said guy lives alone? Said guy hasn't been seen online for two days? Said guy hasn't answered the phone in that time? Every ounce of concern is legitimate.

Well, this is the thing - from what I can glean, he *DID* report in sick to work, yesterday. (Possibly at the time saying he'd be out multiple days.) Why his boss didn't know and sounded the alarm? I don't know. Also, *work* should have known why he wasn't answering his cellphone, even if we (later) didn't -- because it was a cellphone problem originating with work and a switchover they were doing.

This is why I'm being cranky about his workplace (his boss, specifically) starting the chain of alarm.

It's also inexplicable why work did not try calling his home number... or maybe they did; Cathy said that SHE did, but Bill said he heard no ringing of his home phone until I called at 5:50pm. So.

Yeah, by the time it worked down the chain to *me*, it definitely seemed like cause for concern.

I'm glad it was just a mess up. He must be so glad he has so many people who care about him.. or at least he will be when he isn't so sick!

Hope he soon feels better.
