Okay, I know that at least half of my flist is preoccupied with [a] "The Ark of Truth" (*sob*! my copy hasn't arrived yet, and regardless, I won't see it until the weekend, if I'm strong), and [b] rydra_wong's long-awaited and apparently magificent giant kick-ass novelistic SG-1 gen story, "Walked Right Out of the Machinery" (see her latest post for links to it in parts); or perhaps even [c] princessofg's finale of "Maybe it Was Memphis", or [d] ivorygates and synecdochic committing more wonderful-sounding crack-like AUs in "Mezzanine" (... why is everything coming out/being posted RIGHT NOW??? when I have to, like, go to work, and *sleep*, and junk?).

BUT! If you have ever watched the new BSG, or perhaps even if you haven't, you need to go watch this: the SciFi Channel's video summary of seasons 1-3, in 8 minutes, in preparation for the premiere of season 4 on 4/4. (Thanks to hungrytiger for the link -- that was hilarious!)

Needless to say: SPOILERRIFIC!

See, I needed that link! Because I always come in on the stuff my friends are loving, like, two seasons too late, when the plot has already spiraled way beyond my comprehension (see: Babylon 5, Rome, my too-occasional SG1 viewing). So this is good, and thank you!

Rome is a lot less hopeless, if you can Netflix it, or something. Hell, it's only 2 seasons of 13 eps each! Or something like that. Deadwood is the same, though it's 3 seasons. (Or 2 and a half.) (I'm bitter about how damned much Rome and Deadwood cost.)

Watching that video, I am reminded of all the really cool stuff that BSG has done, and how well they BUILT towards it. And how great it was to watch it build and then get some of those big payoffs, because they are HUGE. The video of course doesn't do justice to those things.

But I also remember how at times I hated it, and the video cuts out all of the annoying filler, and elides over the hair-tearing parts. So you know, it's a trade-off. :P

:) I am, at least, listing things in the order more or less that *I* am thinking of them. Indeed, of all the possible things, it's very likely that "Memphis" is the only thing I could even dream of getting to tonight before bedtime.

I'm glad in fact that I have "Machinery" to read this week while I'm waiting to get to see "Ark"... although I rather suspect, frankly, that I would prefer to use "Machinery" as a chaser for "Ark". ;-) Well, who knows... the way my week is shaping up... :P

I only have one pinky toe in BSG land. :) I've *watched* the show, but I have a love/hate relationship with it. I think it's Very Good and I love some of the things they've done, and I think that some of what they have done has been magnificent. But at times during the slog of watching, I have hated it, and wanted to not have to watch it any more. I did not, in fact, watch that mini-series that came out last Oct. or Nov. or whenever that was; I just made the decision that I didn't want to.

Such an odd show. There is something to be said for condensing it down to 8 minutes!

I had to. I had great plans of waiting until the weekend...but in the end...or should I say rather immediately I couldn't wait. :)
