Okay, I admit it. I'm that much of a sucker. I'm *there*, man.

Hah. That was exactly my response the other day.

RotLA was the first movie I saw over and over and over in the theaters. I'm so very attached to it...

Me too! I only saw "Star Wars" once in the theatre, but by the time Raiders came out, I was old enough to go on my own. I saw it. I then dragged my Mom to see it. I then dragged my Dad to see it. (They both enjoyed it; and they were not really genre fans.) I forget what the other reason was -- but I saw it 4 times while it was still in the theatre. Which is chicken-feed compared to some folks, but significant for me.

(Come to think of it, "4" seems to be my preferred multiple-viewing number for those movies I feel that urge towards. Hmm.)

I know. I fear to hope but... who'm I kidding? I'll be there.

I was afraid, but... well, I'm still a little afraid. I don't want it to be a clunker. But I can't *not* go.

Shoot, it's got Harrison Ford in it. Who *CARES* if it sucks!

:-):-)

It is true that I have seen many movies purely on that criteria alone. And they haven't usually failed me. (Not that I have seen every Harrison Ford film, though.)

If nothing else, I have to hope, because -- Harrison Ford is a picky guy, clearly. He's not a big ol' movie ho. And I've gotten the feeling that he feels very close to Indy, and I somehow can't see him agreeing to do it unless he loved the script and felt like they'd make something he could be proud of. It's not like he "needs" to work.

It's still not a guarantee that it'll be great. It could be big and messy and too loud and too busy. But it still gives me hope.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, though. Indy really was his big break. He's been turning down scripts for a long time. Not because he didn't want to play Indy again, but because they weren't right. I think he does feel fairly protective of him.

And it's not like Lucas/Spielberg/Ford couldn't draw the best the industry has to offer for a project like this. ;-)

Is this where I confess to having seen Hanover Street and Regarding Henry just because he was in it?

Did you know he did an episode of Gunsmoke when he was about 20? :-)

What do you mean squeeing fangirl???? :-):-):-)

Yay! (hope hope hope)

I do a lot of hoping that a given sequel will be good enough; I know it can never match the energy and astonishment of the original, but... just let it not suck.

I guess with the Indy franchise going so much further back into my childhood, I feel that much more strongly about it... But that's part of what makes me such a sucker for it, too. They had me as soon as the music started playing. :)

:::squeees::::

Seriously, I've got goose bumps which isn't something that happens too often for me from a trailer alone. WHEEE!!!!

PS. It's also possible that I've watched this trailer many many many times now.

Yeah, that trailer has been put together in a masterful way. I'm only sorry that I didn't see it first on the big screen, without expecting it. :) (But I haven't been to any movies lately.) The silhouette putting on the hat! THE MUSIC! Whip-fu!

... I have watched it many times now as well. (Yet I had to have someone tell me that that's Cate Blanchett in the black page-boy wig...)

Oh yes, big screen, big speakers.....squeeee!

Blanchett is good at disappearing into a role. :)

You know... that movie might not suck as bad as I keep fearing. I'll go see it.

I was a little worried from the start. A lot of my hope is actually resting in how picky Harrison Ford can be about his projects, and how fond he is of Indy. Then again, he might have always been picky, but he doesn't have a perfect track record with movies, so...
