So it snowed again here in Boston today, which apparently it's going to be doing FOREVER. There seemed to be about 6" on my car roof when I got out to it this afternoon, though perhaps only 4" or so at home, hard to tell. This time it was a fluffy but wet snow, easy to walk in. So I put the harness on Emily to take her out again... and decided that photographic evidence was in order this time.

Exploring intrepidly!

Examining crevasses in the snow!

Convinced that if she just licks it enough, she can get that damned harness to come off!

ADVENTURE CAT has had enough. It's time to go back inside now.

Another thing that Emily likes to do, which I got photographic evidence of last night, is: watch television. The way she usually sits in my lap, it's hard to tell if she's really watching the tv or not because all I see is the back of her head. But! If there are BIRDS on the tv screen, well then -- she needs to get over REALLY CLOSE to them and watch them AVIDLY.

Last night, I was finishing watching a Nature show on ravens:

I love this pic because you can clearly see the two ravens doing that "dominance ears" thing that they do!

Sometimes, if the birds are fluttery enough, Emily will sit up on her hind legs like a squirrel, or she'll even get up to put her paws on the screen. She didn't do that last night, though. I think the ravens were too big for that.

You should force Morgan to walk in the snow for knocking the ornament off the tree at 4am!

Oh, I totally should!

When I first got Morgan, I bought a harness and leash for her, too, since Emily likes it so much. But Morgan wants no parts of the outdoors. I ought to put the harness on her anyway, take her out, and toss her into the snow. For her own good, of course.

She met us at the door as we were coming in, which cause problems because Emily (the wuss) didn't want to walk past her. I had to shove Morgan away from the door to get Emily in. Such a troublemaker.

So cool to see her being intrepid in the snow. And to see the ravens. ;) By the way, I love how she's looking at you in that last shot. Hee!

She's smart about not getting too close to the ravens. That one time a raven flew right by my window Indigo practically teleported backwards.

PS. Got the two Heinrich books on the way home today. Thank you again for the reference.

Yay! I'm sure you'll enjoy them. They have some footage of him and one of his experiments in this program.

Oh so cute! *kitty love*

You got 6 inches up there? Really? Wow. We just had some snow squalls and a dusting down here today, but we're still dealing with the ice from the weekend.

The meterologists haven't been accurate in their accumulations predictions for us yet this year -- why spoil that perfect record? :P

Yeah, "proving to Emily that it's cold out there and she really doesn't want to go out" has really backfired.

That last shot of her in the snow is very reminiscent of Max from "Grinch", isn't it?

OMG, the stuff about her watching birds is fascinating! Good instincts on not messing with a raven. I fear them sometimes, too. :D

I have a feeling that the size of the ravens on the screen in that last shot, in relation to her, is probably life-sized, or in fact a bit smaller than the ravens would actually be. :)

Yay for kitties!

I'm telling you, you wouldn't be that jealous if you were here and had to deal with the snow. :P I'm all for it and how pretty it is, but it's also been SUCH a pain in the ass the last few weeks.

Ah but I grew up with a couple of feet of snow six month out of the year. ;) And very, very close to a ski resort. so I'm still jealous. ;)

Your cat looks just like my cat. I live near Boston, maybe my cat is sneaking out and staying with you during the days. *g*

Found you from one of your comments at JF.

Hey, you never know! :) Is your cat polydactyl? Emily has extra toes on both forefeet -- she has actual opposable thumbs. (Can't see 'em in all the snow.) She was also born locally -- I live in Waltham, and I got her because a friend rescued her from Brandeis Univ. campus about 6 years ago. We think she was a kitten that an undergrad got, and then turned loose in May; my friend saw her around campus all summer, and rescued her in Sept., and her estimated age fits that idea. So who knows? She and your cat could be related. :)

Phantom is not polydactyl. He was born closer to you than to me, I'm east and a bit of North from where you are. I live near Burlington and Woburn. He was living outside, his mom had a litter and a friend took him in and gave him to me because I just lost my baby (Shadow Walker). My friend then brought the other kittens and the mom to a shelter. Phantom is about a year and 1/2 years old. I wish I had pics, I must take some, so I can show you.

I don't let him outside because I live right near the center of my town, and there is tons of traffic, though he tries to escape all the time.

He might be the younger brother from another litter. Too bad we can't ask our cats.
