Man. I can hear fandom exploding, and the ep hasn't even *happened* yet.
I think this is going to call for the *heavy* drinking. Yup.

Date: 2006-08-09 08:27 pm (UTC)Besides, seriously -- have you SEEN the rest of the pictures? This ep is made from PURE CRACK. God only knows what the context will actually prove to be. It could be a giant fake-out montage teasing us about Sam potentially marrying any guy who has ever been on the show, ever. Considering that it's in the overall context of a crack episode, I realy don't mind giving the shippers their moment, or their icon-fodder (though I'll still always like the wedding pic from "Point of View" better). For an ep like "200", I think it would actually be weirder if they *didn't* make a joke about this.

Date: 2006-08-09 08:37 pm (UTC)(Oh. Right. Movie Night is now canon, and if I were the SG-1 people, I'd show WoO to the newbie very early on. Check. Nevermind.)
*shrug* I think you're right that way too many people will be taking it way too seriously, and I'm like -- man, WHY? This ep is clearly cracktastic from top to bottom. We get to see these folks act out various wacky ideas, but none of those acting-outs are any more "real" than any others.
Telepresence commented that he wonders if that pic will turn out to be another fake-out, with Jack acting to give Sam away or acting as best-man while Sam marries... ??? And I thought about that for a second, and though, yeah, that'd be evil, but -- actually I hope not. If you're going to give the ship folks a Sam/Jack wedding scene, then *give* it to them, don't jerk them around any more. That's just kind of mean. (And I say this from a position that I would not, at this moment, risk any money in a bet on whether we get a *good* slash joke anywhere in the ep.)
Anyway, the pic I'm most boggled by is the lower left one. :)

Date: 2006-08-09 08:42 pm (UTC)As much as I'd love a fake out personally, I would rather them just have the fake Sam/Jack wedding. Just give the people that ship them something so they can stop being jerked around. This is a crack episode anyway. It's complete parody. I don't know who would pitch the wedding idea, but the actually scenes seem to be complete humor.
I'm okay with that.
I just know people are going to go nuts.
(I have not viewed pictures and I am only semi-spoiled. I've onyl see the wedding dress pic so I don't have as much info as everyone.)
I am not going to go clicky either ;) I just wanted to put my two cents in

Date: 2006-08-09 08:45 pm (UTC)Even the wedding looks (or sounds to be) cheesy. I mean, I seriously doubt all Sam/Jack fans want their couple to have a "canon" cheesy wedding. Who wants that? Since they can't really marry Sam and Jack in the context of the show, they have to do it in a crack episode. I'm totally fine with that. Let the poor people get as close as they can.
The rest of you can do the real thing and do it far better in fic anyway.
So heck they can ship Daniel's glasses with Sam's laptop for all I care. It's just all in good fun ;)

Date: 2006-08-09 08:46 pm (UTC)Of course it's crack and fake and all of that (thank god!). I just wonder whose fantasy it is, hmm? And my reaction is just a knee-jerk "Eeew, I don't want to see it!" The other fantasies look funny, though, and we know there's a zombie one, too, that should be pretty silly.

Date: 2006-08-09 08:47 pm (UTC)My other concern is the amount of Jack. So far, I've only heard mention of him in the wedding scenario. I seriously hope he's in other parts of this episode.

Date: 2006-08-09 08:49 pm (UTC)Be that as it may -- yeah. I just can't get bothered over them making a wedding joke in an ep that is jokes from top to bottom. Especially if, hopefully, it's actually *funny*.

Date: 2006-08-09 08:49 pm (UTC)And yeah, I thought about the big fake-out with S/J too, and they might as well just do it and give everyone the wedding. It's the perfect episode to do it in, and they're never going to make everyone happy with it anyway, so just do it and lay it to rest.
Now, one of the things I'm most interested in seeing is if there *will* be mention of the J/D thing. Because it just seems so wrong not to do *something* with it, especially after giving it so much verbal attention during commentaries and such.
They have to do something.

Date: 2006-08-09 08:54 pm (UTC)Man, for all we know, it's WALTER who pitches the wedding. At any rate, it's not just who pitches it, but how they pitch it and in service of what joke that will matter to me. Somehow, I just don't see it being played straight, as it were. With sincere sappiness, I mean.

Heeee! I still think it would be the best thing EVER if it all ended up with Sam and Daniel getting married. And yeah, that's purely for the "fandom boom" factor, but HAAA!

Date: 2006-08-09 08:57 pm (UTC)Which would be hilarious in one sense, but kinda mean in another.
(I still don't get why Jack's wearing a tux and not dress blues. Maybe we'll find out.)

Date: 2006-08-09 09:00 pm (UTC)*sigh*
It's *crack*, okay? It's gonna poke fun at everyone and everything.
From here on out, I think I'm just going to keep my head down and STFU. But I've really enjoyed the little teasers we've gotten on Sci-Fi. They bring me joy.

Date: 2006-08-09 09:05 pm (UTC)I do think it's a mistake to read too much into it, seriously. This is sort of the AU to end all AUs, you know?

Date: 2006-08-09 09:08 pm (UTC)(But I pointed out that we don't know the duration of some of these things. In the Treks spoof we've only seen CJ and BB as yet. In the Oz spoof, AT is missing. So maybe not everybody will be in the Farscape spoof. And there's supposed to be a Firefly spoof as well? So...)
As funny as a fake-out in the wedding would be, yeah -- look, just give S/J a wedding, even a jokey one. Because I think that only getting a wedding in a completely crack-filled ep can't exactly be everything a diehard shipper would want, in a perfect world, either. So no, you can't make everyone happy -- but throw 'em a bone.
At this moment, if you wanted me to put money on them doing a J/D joke at ALL... I would not put more than $10 on it.
And you know? I'm AFRAID of what joke they might do, if they actually do it. Because OH GOD, if they're going to do a J/D joke, could they not be homophobic, please? PLEASE? See... this is the show that has made deeply stupid homophobic jokes on-screen in the past, and... to be honest, I would rather they not do it at all, than doing it in *that* way.

Date: 2006-08-09 09:10 pm (UTC)maybe you'll get lucky and Sam decides she wants to marry Jack and Daniel at the same time.
Might be easier on Jack's knees.
