Well, this is surreal...
Jun. 10th, 2005 11:38 pmRight now, my Russian neighbors in the apartment above are having the first party I believe they have ever had. It is summer. All their windows are open. All my windows are open. Plus, this is an old building; a converted 19th century house, really. You need to picture thin floors and walls, here.
My neighbors' party apparently consists of a lot of drunk group singing, in Russian; to the accompaniment of what sounds like live drumming, on a doumbek, plus a guitar I think; and the expected stompy Russian dancing, on my ceiling.
From time to time, they will grow quiet-ish. But then evidently someone suggests another song, and it's up for the dancing and the singing. In a way, it's kind of charming. I mean, who has sing-along parties any more? (And these are people my age or younger.) But by "charming", I mean, in a theoretical way, rather than in a "oh god, I want to go to bed" kind of way.
How many people have they GOT up there? My living room is exactly 10'x10', and therefore so is theirs. How can they possibly have room to DANCE, without self-destructing on the furniture?
And, more to the point... I wonder how late drunk Russians will consider it appropriate for this party to continue?
(This is a question that interests me greatly, as last night, for some reason, I got about 4 and a half hours of sleep. And unfortunately, I'm a light sleeper.)

That makes me insanely happy. The fact that the crew is wearing little orca hats: even insanely happier.
