Okay, I was going to post all excited about FINALLY HAVING A BATHROOM WINDOW after 15 months in this "new place", but that has now been eclipsed by...

http://www.tvguide.com/news/entertainment/

Don't go there if you don't want a humongous spoiler-rumor-maybe-not-rumor? about Stargate's Ninth Season, but...

If true? MY GOD.

Head still spinning.

"OPEN STARGATE: We've got good news for fans of Sci Fi's Stargate SG-1 and great news for fans of Farscape: TV Guide Online has learned exclusively that when SG-1 begins its ninth season, Farscape hunk Ben Browder will join the long-running series as a regular. In the meantime, the show is continuing its efforts to hammer out a deal to keep erstwhile MacGyver Richard Dean Anderson (who has been with SG-1 since its 1997 debut) on board, at least in a limited capacity. Whatever happens when all the moondust settles, SG-1 returns to finish out its eighth season on Jan. 21, when it will take over the 8 pm/ET time slot to accommodate the addition of Battlestar Galactica to the net's lineup at 10. And although no reason for the cast shake-up was given, I'm pretty sure Elton John will explain it all to us shortly. How can we be so sure? Oh, keep reading; you'll see."

ETA: credit for breaking this news goes to [livejournal.com profile] telepresence, who knows all, sees all. Seriously.

Boy, they're determined to make me keep watching no matter what. Now I just wonder who he's meant to play -- Daniel's long-lost brother? *g*

Thanks for the news! I'm with you on assuming that TV Guide probably knows what they're talking about. At least, I hope so. Ben Browder wouldn't make up for losing RDA, but he definitely sweetens the prospect of another season!

And congrats on the bathroom window! Just in time for winter. *g*

*snort*

I don't even know if I'd go that far, but... at least, TV Guide is not the place I expect to see announcing something unless they have *some*thing to back it up. Or unless it's a weird joke, I guess. I'm kind of holding off final judgement until I see this confirmed somewhere else...

But if Len had said he'd heard this in any one of various other venues, I'd just have said, "Yeah... RIGHT!" But TV Guide leading with it on the front page of their website? It makes me go, "Hmmm...."

Ben Browder wouldn't make up for losing RDA, but he definitely sweetens the prospect of another season!

It really interests me because as soon as S9 got announced, a lot of folks were talking about their dream-casting ideas for adding a new 4th to shake things up. I don't recall BB being suggested, but hey...

No, he wouldn't make up, for me, for losing RDA -- but the best I'm hoping for there is some deal that keeps RDA connected to the show, accompanied by intelligent ideas about how to make the most of his limited connection. (I.e. the "I would rather know going in that I was only going to get 2, or 4, episodes with Jack in them, if I knew they were eps in which he was there for the whole thing and centrally involved in the plot; than 2 minutes of Jack per episode" argument).

I'm also suddenly having these compelling visions of Jack in a Daniel/Ben sandwich... ;-)

I don't usually go looking for spoilers, but your "holy crap" got me too interested! :-) And *wow*, if true...?

I think TV Guide is more reliable than most sources, although they could still be wrong. But I give this more credence than if it had come from one of the more fannish magazines/sites.

Not for me, either, but this would certainly make Season 9 look a whole lot more interesting than otherwise.

Totally. *praying, praying* Small but worthwhile doses of RDA would be better than none.

Annnnnnnnd... apparently true! I'm still agog.

With RDA or without, S9 *is* suddenly a lot more interesting to me. Which makes me feel kind of bad, because really it's not that I don't love Sam and Daniel and Teal'c. (Presuming S9 has Sam, either...). It's just... I already felt that the show needed a shot in the arm. And I was already sad because I'm bracing myself for the idea that RDA isn't going to be around. And if anything can distract me from that, well... yeah, this is it.

(And I say that even though BB/Crichton, like MS/Daniel, isn't *actually* my type. He doesn't rev my motor the way RDA/Jack does. But I do like him lots.)

What I would find ideal, at this point, would be... sign RDA in a limited way, and strategize his use. I would rather get 2 or 4 episodes in the season in which Jack was integral to the story, than 2 minutes worth of Jack in dribs and drabs. That'd be my ideal, and honestly would also probÄbly be the easiest thing on RDA. If I knew that I had something like "Paradise Lost" or "Zero Hour" to look forward to, I could put up with a *whole* lot of Jack-less stretches.

I wasn't holding out a lot of hope for that scenario, though, because I can't seem to get this telepathic link to TPTB to work...
