This is for local folks -- though, obviously, anyone who wished to fly in for the occasion would be more than welcome! but it seems unlikely...

On Sunday morning, [livejournal.com profile] my_tallest and I are taking [livejournal.com profile] ultra_lilac out canoeing on the Charles River (the stretch nearer downtown). The two of them will be in a canoe, anyway, and I'll probably be in a single kayak. We're going to be meeting at the rental place on Soldier's Field Road at 11am. It's doubtful that we will spend *more* than 2 hours or so out on the river.

If you would like to meet up with us to create a flotilla, let us know!

Feel free to repost this or point to this post (in, say, [livejournal.com profile] walthertown, and so on).

That's the rental place, Charles River Canoe & Kayak. It really isn't easily accessible by T, I'm afraid, so if you need transport, that will have to be arranged somehow. (And I'm full-up on who I can drive, at the moment.)

I'm reminded about this one crazy airman I used to work with when I had a job at WPAFB. One time we were hanging out at happy hour and he was talking about going canoing that weekend, and how he was disappointed that the rental place wouldn't allow him to bring firearms on the trip.

Okaaaaay....

Although -- there are plenty of hunters and fishers who do use canoes and kayaks for "sporting" purposes, as they say in the biz. (You can get them with mounts for your fishing pole; and most makers offer them in camo colors.) This would lead me to believe that there must be rental places that WOULD let you take firearms out with you... Depending on where you were going and whether it was hunting season and so on.

You're insane if you want to take firearms out with you on the lower Charles, though...

Well it was on the Little Miami River in Ohio, and while it's a rural area, there's a frequented bike path that parallels the river because it connects Dayton to Cincinnati. I think this was in the late spring or early summer, so it was way out of hunting season.

I was like, "So what... were you planning on plugging a hole in someone's canoe or something?" His response was, "Maybe..."

It's still her. Unlike the difference between [livejournal.com profile] mytallest and me.
