Man, I'm tellin' you. If *I* can figure out how to do it, I know you can!

But I'm not sure how long it would have taken me to hack through it, if [livejournal.com profile] raqs, IT goddess that she is, had not given me helpful hints -- such as, how to use Photoshop's canvas size to make sure that each original pic was cropped the same and kept the image centered; or how to use Photoshop's layers to make sure the text was positioned the same in every frame. Or, that GIF Builder is the software to use, at least on a Mac, I'm not sure about for PCs, available as freeware on Tucows.com.

I would never have figured out the latter by myself, I don't think. And the other stuff I probably would have tried to do the hard way, rather than using automated tools in PS, and trying to do it manually (as it were) would likely have resulted in my spending an hour futzing with it and then throwing my hands up in despair shouting "CLEARLY I CANNOT MAKE ANIMATED ICONS!"

I know that there are other image-manipulation softwares that people use if they can't glom onto a copy of Photoshop somewhere, that also save as GIFs and allow you to do this. And I'm proud to say that once in GIF Builder, I quickly figured out by myself how to create the animation. (Which may just be a recommendation for how easy and intuitive GIF Builder's interface is.)

I wonder what else I shall animate...
